Blessing Keane

July 4, 2007 | Filed Under Keane, Family | 1 Comment

Last Sunday we had the chance to go together to church (in one vehicle) for Keane’s blessing. He cried the whole time, but still. The Spirit was strong in Sacrament meeting though, and it was a good experience. Thanks to all who participated. By the way, my Mom had made a white crochet blanket when Brighton was blessed, and Brighton agreed it would be a good thing to have with Keane too during his blessing. So Keane had that with him while we were up. After church, our family went over to a friend’s house (who had also blessed his daughter the same day) for a BBQ (thanks Seth!) Good times. :D

Fun

Kuei is great about getting the boys out to fun things that are going on downtown. There are usually a few promotions with free perks or something too that she likes to seek out. Not too long ago, there was the Chalk Festival where some really great artists displayed their work all over the street. They block off a road and let people walk around looking at the artists as they draw. The kids also have an area where they can grab a bucket of chalk and scribble all over. Brighton did it last year, and this year was fun too. But they didn’t stick around too long, due to the incredible heat that has been common lately in SLC. He did get a nice dragon down though. A few days ago, Kuei also stopped by an Epson booth that had a number of backdrops for picture taking. Lately its been too hot for them to get outside for long, but Kuei made the most of it, brought back some good photos. See them HERE.

May Dayz

June is already here. Wow. With our interesting living situation at the moment, we have had some trouble updating. Sometimes, you just can’t find a hotspot, you know? [Disclaimer: Geek jargon ahead] I’ve tried using the Jiwire widget but it hasn’t been too helpful. Oh well..

Over the past couple of weeks, however, we have had some notable events. I’ve uploaded a good amount of photos to our Lately set too. But here’s a bit of an update:

two-wheeler

Brighton ditched the training wheels and is now an official two-wheeler. He’s still a bit shaky but once he gets going, he has pretty good control of the bike and can stop himself from falling over. Cool stuff, right? It was pretty neat for me to see him do it too. At first he just wanted me to hold onto the back of the seat. Then I’d let go and he’d coast a few feet before promptly directing his bike toward the grass to crash. But after a while, he got a feel for it, and you could see him working it all out himself. Taking control of the bike. Getting the whole balance thing going, pedaling and keeping the handle bars steady. I was surprised how quickly he got it. I don’t remember riding two-wheels at 6…

keane

I like this picture of Keane. He still isn’t sold on being outside. But I think he’s coming around.

insidekeane

He likes to smile more inside it seems. :)

beesgame

For my Birthday, I went to a SL Bees game in the afternoon with Brighton, and in the evening we all hung out together, grabbed some italian food (Keane slept while we were at the restaurant..yeah!), rented some DVDs, and had some good family time. It was fun.

Here Brighton is on the Bees kiddie train that circulates the ballpark. We also visited the “Funzone” area where all the kids go when they need to stretch their legs a bit. We did this all during the 3rd or 4rth Inning, so we didn’t miss much of the game.

train

I love Franklin Covey Field. It’s a beautiful ballpark. We were in the Red section, right near third base. It was a great game by the way. We won, so that is always nice. Brighton and I cheered and had a lot of fun. We got there a bit before the game started (2pm) and it was a bit overcast, but an hour or so later, it was blazing down on us. It was great.

talkingtoplayers

Isn’t this picture the coolest? It’s awesome to me seeing Brighton with a bunch of kids leaning over the wall, talking to real baseball players. Trying to get a stray ball. He did get a signature, which is cool.

keane baseball

Here’s Keane in a baseball outfit, all smiles. Now if he were wearing black pinstripes and he lost the red (Go Yankees!) he’d be really stylin’. But he’s a cutie nonetheless. :)

Outside / Kuei after Baby

May 12, 2007 | Filed Under Kuei, Keane, Family | 2 Comments

Seeing how Keane reached his two-month mark, we thought it would be a good idea to take him outside for a walk. Now, he’s been to checkups and stuff like that, so he has been outside, but that doesn’t really count. Yes, we are bit paranoid about our new baby getting sick. Probably because our experience with Brighton is that he catches everything, it seems, regularly. We’re hoping that by the time he’s older, that’ll mean Brighton has a stronger immune system. We’ll see.

With Keane, we are playing it safe too. It doesn’t help that while we live downtown, there is a lot of construction at the moment, and noise and smells and all that floating around. But we decided we’d get the stroller out, and go to a stretch of green space, and take a walk with Keane anyway. It was nice to see his face looking up at the trees and sky. It was warm outside, no need for a jacket, and there was a breeze, so it was nice. By the time we headed back home, little Keane was snoozing. As always, you can see photos in our ‘Lately’ Set: HERE on Flickr.

Kuei is doing good too. Tired, of course, but doing all right. She got a new haircut a few days ago, with some color. When we were in Taiwan, she had these cool red/purple lights added, but this time around she went for more of a brown/orange accent. She had wanted to cut it pretty short for a while now too. A fresh look after baby and all that. A side note, on her way out the door, I asked her what look she was going for, and she said “Kinda like Sandra Bullock in The Lake House.” (It is one of our favorite movies). About that, the flim is cheesy at times, but we identify with it a bit with the architect and the idea of an urban retreat out there (in case your wondering, I don’t like the house in the film much, with all the stilts, but I do love the glass).

Keane Growing Fast!

May 6, 2007 | Filed Under Keane | 4 Comments

On Tuesday, Keane Aaron will be 2 months young. It wasn’t too long ago we put up something about him reaching the 1 month mark. His pictures are really telling too.  I  know that in the first few months, babies change a lot, and this is true with our little guy too. Keane is filling out his clothes more, smiling and making all kinds of expressions too. Fun stuff. See more photos HERE.
