Sun & Snow
December 14, 2007 | Filed Under Winter, Brighton, Family
I like Winter in Utah, don’t get me wrong. But the name of the site isn’t MadeofSnow, now is it?
But when the mountains are white and the roads are cleared, it is a nice thing. Even better when the sun comes out and makes everything look bright and clean, so bright in fact that everyone is wearing shades. It was on such a day, not long ago, that Brighton and I grabbed the sled and went to Sugarhouse to attack some hills. We found one. Now it wasn’t the soft, fluffy snow like Jerin wrote about. The hills we found were straight ice.
It. Was. Awesome.
We practically flew down the thing. Brighton and I had to lean back, because we’d take air every time. Brighton and I had a lot of fun. We came up with different shout-outs, like “Cowabunga!” and “Geronimo!” each time too. More pictures Here.

I miss sledding. I love the Sugarhouse Park photos. I used to work right there, and I miss the area.
Nice! You found the fast stuff.
Taisei’s probably not quite ready for that yet, but, man, I bet Brighton had a blast!
Adam, you’ll have to bring back Rainny next winter, just in time to go with Keane.
The picture is so beautiful that Charles and I decided to use it as our desktop background. Thank you for sharing it! The pic of Brighton is so awesome too!
It really is a good place to take photos, and our collection has included several photos from Sugarhouse Park over time…(on the swings, near the stream, etc). Right now it’s like a winter wonderland with the birds and the frozen pond.
Beautiful pictures!!! Merry Christmas!!
Hey!! by the way! Thanks for letting everybody know about this place. I should take some families there to take family pictures. It’d be nice!
How’s it going Sheldon? Just wanted to let you know that you are in my outfield as a reserve/pinch hitter. Hey, at least you’re not down in AAA! You’ll be starting after I trade away J.D. Drew for some pitching. The game doesn’t have your name in the audio library, so when you come up to bat it says ‘now batting, SLEDGE’.

Merry Christmas!

Awesome, I’m in the majors! Kuei and the boys will be so proud. J.D. Drew? What? Get rid of that Red Sox guy! Ha, ‘SLEDGE’ can swing better than him any day!
By the way, that’s where we took our wedding engagement pictures.
Lindsay gardens (right by our house) is awesome for sledding, accompanied with gorgeous vistas of the city.
Liberty park is a great place of the kids too. It has a pond, lots of trees, several playgrounds, a pool, tennis and basketball courts, rides, and a bird sanctuary. Just don’t go at night!
Jerin, I agree, Liberty Park is great (before dark). One of SLC’s cooler spots. Brighton and I go there in the summer and play catch and bat around because there is so much open space. Maybe the ward will have another BBQ there again?
…I don’t think i’ve been to Lindsey Gardens. Now Gilgal Gardens, yes…(but that is QUITE different).
