Autumn Fun
October 24, 2007 | Filed Under Family
This year in Utah we’ve had, in my view, a very short Autumn. We went from Summer right to Winter it seems. But for the last week at least, it felt kinda like Fall. If only for a couple of days. I have been wanting to check out a corn maze, again, but its been too cold and Kuei and Keane wouldn’t enjoy it. (So soon, Brighton and I, at least, will have to get lost in a corn field).
Well, we decided to go check out Farnsworth Farms, in Sandy, and pick some apples from the orchards. (I vaguely remember, long ago, going with my family and helping pick apples from an orchard in Utah (before we moved to the Midwest) with friends of my parents who were named Farnsworth…turns out it is the same family…small world, eh?) And now I am bringing my family to the orchards to pick apples. In Sandy, there are not as many acres now, but we still came home with a box of apples (the cider the family makes is great too).
We hadn’t picked out our jack-o-lanterns for Halloween just yet either, so we took another trip. We thought it would be fun to get some from a real pumpkin patch. Sure they cost more, but it’s a lot more fun searching one out on a farm, right? Kuei found a place called, Mabey ’s Pumpkin Patch, in South Jordan, and it was fun. Kuei even got out a wagon and pulled Brighton around in the field to find the pumpkins. More photos HERE.

Back in the day, Farnsworth Farms used to be this 50 acre orchard that I remember, now it is only 10 acres…but they still open it up to the public and it’s still fun. Their production acres, for cider making, are in Utah county though. Over 100 acres or so…
