Just On My Mind…

July 30, 2007 | Filed Under Politics, World, Church | 3 Comments

This blog doesn’t really touch much on politics, (that’s not really it’s purpose), but…our family is unique in its ties to Asia and so we keep up a bit on Taiwan and China and that whole mess from time to time. Without delving into it too much on this site, let me just make a few points.

First off, hat’s off to Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia for his position on access to media in the world. I think any group that doesn’t bow down to the censoreship that China imposes, is good in my book. For more thoughts on the firewall on information there, read on.

As members of the Church, naturally we hope that the gospel will thrive in China sooner rather than later, and there are encouraging signs that eventually the Communist government there will fall, (long overdue in my view) allowing that to happen more quickly. Meanwhile, Taiwan is a lighthouse, along with Japan and Hong Kong (even in transition at the moment) in that part of the world.

When we visited Taiwan last, I soon found out that discussing politics was a hot issue, with Kuei’s family and friends. And I know some of you guys read up on this blog too, (so I’ll try not to encite you too much to flame this entry!) ;) But…

All interpretations aside, wouldn’t it be an interesting strategy during the Olympics next year, say…opening ceremonies….if Taiwan “officially” declared (or in some circles..restated) its independence? Ha! :D

Brighton’s Camera

Okay. Once we upgraded to our Cannon, we gave Brighton our old Sony 2mp camera so he could have some fun with pictures too. Who knew he’d fill up a memory stick with 200 pictures in about a week? Once it’s full and I upload them, what I find is pretty interesting. Some are really good, others make you scratch your head as to what this boy was thinking…Anyway, I’ll try to do a regular post from time to time from the “BCAM.” :)

So, without further delay, feast your eyes on this…!

Babies & Baseball

July 22, 2007 | Filed Under Friends, Baseball, Family | 2 Comments

Last Wednesday, we met up with Adam, Nicole, and Rainny at Franklin Covey Field to see the Bees play the Tacoma Rainiers. (Thanks Charles for the great seats!) The game started at 7pm so our hope was that the triple-digit heatwave would let up a little by the time we got into the thick of the game. But it was still plenty hot. (It was perfect weather a couple hours later though). Kuei and Nicole passed the time by munching on ballpark goodies, while Adam and I tried to enjoy the game. But Keane and Rainny got a bit tired and fussy as the evening wore on past their bedtime, so we left toward the end (the Bees came back to beat the Rainiers though, so that’s good to know). Adam had his glove ready, and almost got one, but the elusive stray ball was not to be had that night. (We did almost get a bat though….Hehe).I guess baseball and babies are probably better suited in a room with a plasma screen. At least until the 1 year mark? I don’t know. Keane may like going sooner. (Brighton didn’t start liking the game until he was about 3 years old). Oh well, maybe next time, right? More photos here.babies and baseball

It’s just a car, we know. But it’s a lot of fun and we smile every time we climb inside and zip around town in it. I love how the windows in the back are a bit tinted too, so the boys stay cooler. Here are some pics of our blue box:

Dad, Welcome to the Light Side

July 5, 2007 | Filed Under Mac | 3 Comments

My Dad has made the switch. One more person has crossed over to the Light Side. Or in my Dad’s case, ‘leaped,’ ’scrambled,’ or ‘made a mad dash’ might be a more accurate description. No matter how you put it, he has left the Windoze world. Wise man, he is…

Now, all you others out there who haven’t yet, well…you’ll come around. Just as soon as you get tired of spyware, adware, malware, viruses and antivirus software, patches, upgrading, crashes, and an overall bland user experience, of course. But if you like Microshaft and an OS that is the equivalent of swiss cheese, play on. Just know that there are other options out there. There is hope! ;) My Dad got a nice system and great price by searching his local city on Craigslist. Enjoy your G4 Dad!
