Brighton, Dad, & Baseball

While we were standing in line, for the parade in the Gateway on Saturday, we got some free tickets to the Bees game on Monday night. They were great seats too. Row 8. Just left of home plate. I thought it would be a good “father and son time” because of so much attention lately with baby Keane. But it was cold. Really. Really. Cold. Brighton and I had fun though. We got a hotdog. We even grabbed a stray ball. The Bees got hammered, though. Oh well. It was funny to hear Brighton echo everything I said. “Let’s go!” would be followed by another “let’s go!” from Brighton. Then he would shout something random, like, “Sting ‘em!” After all, they are the Bees, right?

Easter Weekend

We had a nice Easter. The weather was great and Brighton and I went to a quick egg hunt at the Church, then we headed over to the Gateway and made a silly hat for a parade there. More photos here. Sunday night, Alonzo and Cora came over for dinner (thanks!). Had a great meal and watched Finding Faith in Christ. It was a good visit and Brighton had a good time playing Operation and Cadoo.

Stats

We used to integrate statcounter for the previous Brightonopolis site. It is good for basic HTML sites. But lately, i’ve been looking for a good stats plugin for Wordpress. I’ve checked out the codex and implemented Slimstat and a plugin that integrates Google Analytics, but I’m not crazy about either of them…Anyone using wordpress knowing of any good stat plugins, please post. Thanks!
Photo Booth

I’ve been a Mac addict user for a long time. And last term, I got a MacBook for school. It has been great when I have needed to go some place to do work without having to go all the way up on campus to do it.
People on PCs supposedly get sidetracked with Solitaire? … Well, on the MacBook, and on all the Macs that is, the built-in iSight (webcam) on these things is too easy to mess with. There’s an application called, “Photo Booth” that comes with your computer and it has some fun presets, with a screen flash, (like you’re in a photo booth). There are effects that distort the frame, like you’re in one of those mirrors at a funhouse, for instance. There’s other effects like sketch, etc. Anyway…Photo Booth is fun.

Nice Conference Weekend

Here Brighton is drawing during Conference. This lasted for a little while, but then he had to find something else to keep him busy. Kuei and I listened to the talks as much as we could when Keane wasn’t needing to be changed or fed, but we brought him into the living room and let him listen to some of the music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Saturday, I jumped on the train and went to the Priesthood meeting in the newly rededicated Tabernacle building. I agree with the Prophet’s comment that the benches are just as hard as the old ones were. But the talks were really great and it was nice to sing and be part of that great assembly of brethren there. I also heard a great adaptation of one of my favorite hymns at the close of the meeting and the arrangment was awesome.
Sunday, Brighton and I took a walk on Temple Square after the final session, to stretch the legs a bit, and that was nice.

At the moment, some notable talks that I remember enjoying, were given by: President Hinckley (Priesthood Meeting) and Elder Hales (Priesthood Meeting), Elder Eyring, Elder Packer, President Faust, Elder Coleman, and Elder Kikuchi.
Here’s the Deseret News’ coverage of the Conference here and here and here.
